Oak Academy

Vice Principal's Message

Welcome to Oak Academy: A Rights Respecting School

At Oak Academy, we are proud to be a Rights Respecting School, where our entire community—students, staff, and parent/carers—learn about and practice children’s rights every day. This commitment is not just about what our students do, but also about the actions and attitudes of the adults in our community. Together, we work towards promoting and realising children’s rights, creating a nurturing and inclusive environment for all.

Our Rights Respecting School Award highlights the collaborative effort between children and adults to uphold these rights. This partnership ensures that our students not only understand their rights but also see them respected and enacted in their daily lives. By fostering a culture of respect and understanding, we empower our students to become active, informed, and compassionate members of society.

At Oak Academy, we are passionate about working with all students, recognising and celebrating their individuality. I am incredibly proud to be part of this school, where our core values of community, kindness, courage, excellence, and respect are at the forefront of everything we do. These values guide our interactions and decisions, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported.

The impact of being a Rights Respecting School is profound and far-reaching. We see significant benefits in four key areas: wellbeing, participation, relationships, and self-esteem. Our students are healthier and happier, feeling safe and valued within our school community. They form positive relationships with their peers and teachers and are more engaged in school life and the wider world. This engagement helps them develop leadership skills and a strong sense of social responsibility.

The positive influence of our Rights Respecting School extends beyond our gates, making a meaningful impact on the entire community. We are proud to see our students carry these values with them, contributing to a more just and respectful society.

Our Inclusion team is dedicated to working in partnership with parents and carers, valuing this collaboration as essential to our students’ success. Together, we can ensure that every child at Oak Academy flourishes.

For our current community, thank you for being a part of Oak Academy, where every child can thrive.

If you are considering joining, this is an exciting time to become part of our community and we look forward to welcoming you.

Best wishes
